Saying, “I Do,” to Essential Oils
When my son got married, I was honored to play the wedding planner role for the Bride. We chose beautiful, dried lavender for the toss as they made their grand exit. The lavender was put in organza bags and the soft purple flowers made for beautiful pictures. Everyone enjoyed smelling the sachets while standing in the exit line. It was also environmentally friendly and required no clean up. You could tell the guests didn’t want to “waste” such extravagant fragrant flowers by tossing it at the Bride and Groom.
The Bride and Groom now have a memory of how their special day….smelled. Scent is one of the strongest emotion-eliciting contributors on the planet. As an event planner, I think many people overlook the most powerful thing- the scent of the event. Yes, when I plan an event I appeal to all the senses: sight, taste, sound, touch and scent. I recommend hiding a few diffusers at your event with your signature fragrance of your own combination of oils. I love helping people find the right blend of scents just for them. Maybe you like a fail-proof Lavender and Lemon. For a Spring wedding consider Grapefruit and Bergamot. Perhaps you like an earthy scent like Rosemary and Eucalyptus for winter. The ideas are endless.
Essential oils should be a staple for every Bride and the Bridal party. Leading up to the big day Lavender oil can help relieve stress and also promote healing of any accidental cut or bruises that would cause pictures to be unsightly. Peppermint oil supports proper digestion and is the perfect rub-on for indigestion, nausea or cramps. It works almost instantly and is perfect for an emergency kit. Let’s face it, stress can induce some unwelcome symptoms on the big day. Put a few drops of Peppermint oil on the stomach and rub clockwise and bye-bye upset tummy. Avoiding medicine will also avoid the side affects that come along with it. Using Peppermint and Lemon oil for sinus problems and allergies will promote wellness and eliminates drowsiness like some over the counter medications can cause.
Outdoor weddings deserve attention, too, when it comes to oils. Could you imagine a Bride needing to apply insect repellant to keep away mosquitos or other pests? A glass spritzer bottle of Purification and/or Lemongrass oil mixed with water is not only natural and safe, but smells good and works like a charm. Who wants to smell like insect repellant on their big day? I think a cute favor for an outdoor or beach wedding would be spritzer bottles of essential oils.
I am hoping that your special day is filled with health, wellness and amazing memories. If you have any questions feel free to email me at lopesjennifer@bellsouth.net and to order please visit my website: https://www.youngliving.org/lopesjennifer
